The Pyramid of King Teti at Sakkara 2347 – 2327 BC
King Teti was the first king of the Sixth Dynasty, Teti’s Pyramid has a height of about 52 meters high, and its external surface is mostly rubble. Like other pyramids in Sakkara now days it is looks like a sandy mountain, it consisted of a step pyramid-style core faced with dressed white limestone that gave it the appearance of a smooth-sided pyramid. Also like many pyramids of the time, the facing stones were plundered, leaving the core to break down due to exposure this Pyramid has a beautiful inscription inside this called the Pyramids’ texts.
The Pyramids’ texts are Rituals and spells, incantations intended to guide the king through the afterlife. The pyramid of king Unas at Sakkara one of the most power and healing point in Egypt after the great Pyramid of King Khufu.
He ruled from about 2367 – 2347 BC, around 20-23 years the last king of the fifth dynasty. He had two wives, Nebit and Khenut King Unas’ Pyramid was the smallest of the Old Kingdom Period, and although successive pyramids would be slightly larger, his layout would set the pattern for the Sixth.
This Pyramid has amazing interior design and the best pyramid’s texts now it re-opened for visitors from 8 Am to 12 pm daily.
Pyramids of Dahshur & Midoum Pharaoh Senfru Pyramids
Snefru’s three large pyramids—the Meidum Pyramid, the Bent Pyramid, and the Red Pyramid.
King Senfru was the father of famous king Khufu the builder of the great pyramid of Giza and his wife was the famous Queen Het-Hers her treasure in the Egyptian museum. King Senfru has Three Pyramids and this very unique in this time normally each king has only one Pyramid as burial place after death.
But Why King Senfru has many pyramids?
The reason is he tried to make a perfect pyramid and this was at the begging of the pyramids constructions so many architectural mistakes happened make them try again and again till them Succeeded and built the Red Pyramid at Dahshur. The Meidum Pyramid at Fayouim or the Lair pyramid
The Lair pyramid of King Senfru it was named by local Elharm Elkdab or Lair Pyramid because if you look at the pyramid from long distance you see that it is very high pyramid but when you come closer to the Pyramid
you will find that it is built over high mountain that gives you the impression of the hugeness of the Pyramid, this pyramid built by Senfru but there are many Egyptologist say that it belongs to King Huni of the 3rd dynasty but because there is no names ( Cartoushes) inside the pyramid we can’t approve that.
The Bent pyramid at Dahshur
The second Pyramid of the pharaoh Senfru is The Bent pyramid at Dahshur 40 km away from Giza Pyramid.
The Bent pyramid is a fascinating structure which raises as many questions as it answers about the evolution of the pyramid because the ancient Egyptians didn’t build these great Pyramids in one time.
It takes many trails till they reached the peak of architectures at the great pyramid of Giza The Bent pyramid started at one angle approx. 52 degrees and then suddenly changes to a more gradual angle of 43 degrees.
This odd arrangement provides this pyramid with a distinctive and unique appearance. There are many possible reasons for this change in angle.
Currently the most widely accepted theory is that the original angle resulted in displacement of many blocks and cracking of the blocks that lined the chambers and passageways. This theory continues that the gentler angle was employed to reduce the amount of weight to be added above these chambers and passageways.
Another theory goes to the pharaoh Sneferu realized that if he were to continue the pyramid at its initial angle, it would rise to a height which would require a tremendous amount of material and labors and I think it is a very weak theory but this pyramid the only one still has its outer case .
The question is why the king finished the outer case of the bent pyramid and he didn’t use it?
Especially he built another Pyramid called the Red Pyramid or the north Pyramid of Dahshur.
The Red Pyramids in Dahshur
The Red pyramid of Dahshur or the Northern pyramid it is considered the first true Pyramid in Ancient Egypt built by King Senfru in the 4th Dynasty it is about 101 Meter high and it is base is about 200×200
The Red Pyramid derives its modern name from the red limestone of its facade.
However, it is known as El-haram el-watwat (Bat Pyramid) by the local people in Dahshur , when it was first built it was clad with fine white limestone and was named “Sneferu Shines”, “Sneferu Rises” It is the largest of the pyramids of Dahshur and the third largest pyramid in Egypt.
There are many other Pyramids at Dahshur about 13 pyramids but these pyramids built by Mudbrick not limestone as usual all of these pyramids built in the Middle kingdom.
